He has created a niche in writing about so-called ‘technical’ subjects in simple language a lay person can understand.
Based out of Mumbai, he works as a consultant in marketing, branding, and skills enhancement for client organisations. Since 2009, he has devoted a large part of his time to education and is currently involved with a few start-up educational enterprises.

He has written six books so far:

  • “Wraparound – delivering a great Brand Experience” on marketing and branding (published by Rupa)
  • “The Mountain of the Moon” – a translation of Bibhutibhushan Bandyopadhyaya’s Bengali classic (published by Rupa)

After nearly 30 years in Advertising, Jayanta decided to focus on teaching and mentoring students in marketing strategies and brand building, as well as enhancing skills in client organisations through tailored programmes. His past experiences have been in the areas of brand building, including brand identity creation and management, brand and marketing communication campaigns, and building customer knowledge. His consultancy engagements have also included skills and knowledge enhancement.


He’s an author with a wide range of interests and domains. His first book, WrapAround, was about designing and delivering a great brand experience. Since then, he has translated a classic work in Bengali literature into English and is currently working on two more such projects. In addition, he has written four large-format illustrated books for Reliance Industries on major plastics families.

He is currently Mentor at Unitedworld School of Business which he helped set up from its earliest days. He lectures at its campuses in Ahmedabad and Kolkata.


Over the last 15 years, he has also taught at IIM Calcutta, SP Jain Institute of Management & Research, Symbiosis Centre for Management and HRD, Great Lakes, St Xavier Institute of Management & Research, and other leading business schools in India.


In the last 15 years, he has worked with a wide variety of organisations, ranging from large companies to SMBs. The companies include Tata Services, Mastek, Zicom, FedEx, rediff.com, Shoppers Stop, Bharat Petroleum, PCI, Eveready, Tea Association of India, SRF, 20:20, J K Helene Curtis, Raymond, and a number of other organisations.
